1. A stranger knocks on your character's door in the middle of the night and asks for help. Does your character open the door and let the stranger in?
• What if the stranger is a tattooed, wiry man with blood on his face?
• What if the stranger is a weary-looking old lady?
• What if the stranger is a twelve-year-old child who keeps looking around as though someone
is following him?

Nope. Not in any of the given examples. Hips is waaaaay too street smart to do that. She would offer to escort them to the nearest hospital/police station/whateva, or call an ambulance/taxi/officer to help out if they didn't want to or couldn't walk anywhere, but she wouldn't let them into her home.

Of course, if she met those people in the Nexus, she'd offer to let them crash at her place if they needed it. She's got a bit of a blind spot there, no idea why. She did it with Perry Graves, she did it with Dunnett Manwaring, she did it with Michael Tullius Drinkwater Jones... Nexus, making Hips look naive since 2005.

2. Does your character have any allergies or sensitivities? How do they affect her life?
Amazingly enough, no! Hips is not allergic to anything. Because I'M allergic to everything under the sun, and must make my self-insert better than I am hahahahaha *shifty eyes*

3. Is your character progressive, using new technologies as they become available? Is she slow to adapt to technological change? Or is she middle-of-the-road, waiting to see if things work but using them as soon as she's satisfied that they do?
Ah, the joys of being in the wrong time. ...Well, being in the wrong time when the 'future' was based off the 1980s. >_> The Red Dwarf universe has some fun discrepancies when it comes to technology. (The shoes come to mind, there.) ANYWAY, Hips has some weird stuff in her head about that. A lot of the stuff here and now (like cell phones) make her go 'Is THIS the best that's available? Smeg.' So, yeah, everytime new stuff launches, she tries to snag it, just because she wants to be back up to 'her' level of tech as soon as possible.

4. Your character receives a mysterious package. There's no return address (or not one that she recognizes) and he wasn't expecting anything. What does he do?
* The package is unusually heavy and the label is hand-lettered in a handwriting she doesn't recognize.
* The package is a thin manila envelope with a printed label.
* There seems to be a faint vibration coming from the package and it was left on her doorstep.
* The package is large and was delivered through a reputable shipping service.

Is it just me, or does this question smack of The Unibomber?

HANYWAY. Hips' paranoia isn't quite at the level of 'OH GOD GOTTA SCREEN THE MAIL' yet. The 'vibrating' one would give her a moment's pause, though. (Simply because she already HAS sex toys.) So, yeah, she would probably just cheerfully open all the packages listed above, except the vibraty one. That one, she'd let the Hands open or something. >_>

5. Does your character enjoy camping outdoors?
Ah, the camping trips. When Hips was a small child, her father (who had delusions of Rugged Outdoorsman in spite of a size 56 waist), would drag the family out on camping trips at least once every two-three months or so. Invariably, these trips were MISERABLE, with lousy weather or family squabbles or somebody getting bitten by a snake or SOMETHING. Since Aphrodite was also of the 'lardbutt' variety, she'd just sit in the tent all day and whine that she was missing her favorite shows. While Hips would do her absolute best to wander way the hell off and not be around her parents at ALL during these little outings.

So, no, Hips no longer goes camping. It's never been enjoyable. (She didn't really consider the time spent on Tropico 'camping.')

6. Does your character know how to hunt or fish? Is she good at it? Does she do it for recreation or for food?
She can bait a hook, and she's got good aim, but she has no clue how to clean or skin or descale the results of these efforts. So, no.

7. What is the one major regret your character has about her life so far? Does she plan to do anything about it, and if so, what?
...I just have to pick one? Hoboy. Well, okay. I guess her biggest regret is getting demoted. She sometimes kicks herself for being so damn obvious in her ziggurat climbing. (Her ultimate goal was taking over the captaincy of the Dwarf.) But she's got tons and tons of little regrets, too. She regrets falling in with Rimmer a lot, she regrets everything that happened with Wade ALL the time, and sometimes, every so often she'll regret not taking her mother up on the offer to come home. When Hips was in her last year at Miss Pratchett's, Aphrodite wrote Hips a letter saying that Peter had left her, and Hips was free to come back home. Hips told her mother in no uncertain terms to get bent. So.

8. What one major thing does your character want to accomplish in her life to come?
To keep her relationship with Ramon strong and as healthy as possible. Everything else could fall to hell, but as long as she had that, she wouldn't feel like a failure.

9. How does your character want to live out her older years?
Still active, still in charge of something, be it her business or any other project she's picked up in the meantime. Hips will be bossy until the day she dies, sir.

10. Overall, is your character satisfied with her childhood?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH oh god do I really have to say it?

No. No. A thousand times, no.

11. Your character has an award someone gave her sitting on a shelf. What is it for, and what are the circumstances under which she received it?
* Is she proud of it or embarrassed by it?
* Does she feel that she deserved it?

She DID have medals of commendation, back on the Dwarf. The day she was demoted, she threw them all in the incinerator. She has, on the other hand, secretly kept all the newspaper articles and reviews about her pub. She's got vague plans to put 'em all together and frame 'em one of these days so she can hang them up behind the bar.

12. Has your character ever been arrested? For what? Did she deserve it? Does she feel that she deserved it?
Yup! The day her uncle found out about her little fling with Rimmer (which was also the day it sorta started, although they hadn't done anything more than kiss at that point), Frank confronted her about it. She lost her temper and punched her uncle in the nose. In full sight of two other parole officers. Down to Floor 13 she went! And she'd do it again in a heartbeat, probably.

13. Has your character ever struck someone in anger?
Oooooh yeah. Only about ten bazillion times.

14. Has your character ever killed anyone?
Oh, lord. Accident or no, she still feels responsible for all those people dying on the Dwarf. And, immediately BEFORE the accident, she did deliberately kill a fellow parole officer named Marone. That sits on her conscience as well. Of course, Marone just took a shot at Rimmer, so she calls it self-defense, sort of. But she hates knowing that she's capable of just killing somebody at the drop of a hat like that. She doesn't want to be a killer, and she's terrified of getting worse.

15. Is your character adventurous when it comes to food? Does he like to try out new cuisines?
Hips will always have a love of eating. But she knows how to control her cravings and keep it from getting too crazy-go-nuts. So, yes, she will happily try anything once.

16. What is your character's idea of a perfect day?
A day spent with the people she loves, and/or a day spent keeping busy with her business. Or a day spent in bed. That's nice, too.

17. What is your character's idea of a perfect meal?
Curry! Hips got her love of curry from Lister, surprisingly enough. And hooooooboy did that annoy Rimmer. But, yes, curry meals. Samosas and chicken vindaloo and matar paneer and mango lassi and mmmmmmmm.

18. Is your character an optimist or a pessimist?
She swings back and forth between the two extremes very easily. She tries not to let her more bitter side out all that often anymore, just because she knows it's annoying. She would much rather believe the best of people, believe that they're capable of goodness first rather than badness. It's actually quite contradictory. She's an optimist because she wants to see the good side of individuals, she's a pessimist because she knows that people in general suck.

19. What sort of sense of humor does your character have?
VERY sarcastic, very dry, and very goofy. She likes making people laugh by provoking them, and she likes laughing at just sheer absurdity. She loves Monty Python, The Goon Show, all those classic Brit shows. She also has a soft spot for The Honeymooners, amazingly enough. Alice Kramden is AWESOME.

20. Is your character ambitious?
Juuuuuuuuuust a little. >_>

21. What makes your character proud?
Keeping herself in shape, keeping her friends, owning her own business, maintaining a love affair.

22. What makes your character embarrassed?
Getting caught in one of her many hypocricies, getting caught acting like an incompetent twit, getting hassle for her sex life.

23. Does your character look both ways before crossing the street?
Yup. In London, you've got to, or you're road pizza.

24. What method of transportation does your character use? If she drives a car, for example, what kind of car does she drive?
Do PINpoints count? Hips can't drive land vehicles; she never learned how. Never NEEDED to. She spent most of her adult life on a spaceship. She CAN pilot a Starbug/Blue Midget, though.

25. Someone tries to rob your character on the street. What does she do? What is she carrying that the robbers might want? Is it a random incident or was she targeted?
If she did get mugged, the mugger would be in for a NASTY shock. She doesn't wear expensive jewelry or watches, so somebody MIGHT make a grab at her purse, but they'd get a swift kick to the nadgers and/or a right hook to the jaw and/or a bullet in the leg and/or turned into a cocker spaniel if they tried it. As for the targeting, yeah, somebody might decide she'd be a good target because of her looks.

26. Does your character keep in touch with childhood friends? Which ones and why?
Hips had one or two friends in elementary school, but nothing very close or fulfilling. Her play dates... weren't. She would go hang out at other kids' houses to get away from her father, for the most part. Kids know when they're being used. So all the friends she made eventually cottoned on to that and stopped inviting her over. And then she was at Miss Pratchett's, where it was hell on wheels. No friends there, but endless people to fight with.

27. Is there anything that can get a smile out of your character no matter how sad or upset she is?
Yup. Anything that Wade says when he's being a goof, really. Even when she's mad at him, he can still get her to smile. And hearing Ramon say he loves her. That does it, too.

28. Is there anything that can upset or anger your character no matter how happy he is?
Oh yeah. Hips' mood swings are LEGENDARY, sir! If she heard that a friend or lover was in trouble or being mistreated, she'd be TICKED.

29. What makes your character feel righteously angry?
Just say the words "GELF," "Umbrella Corporation," "Wesker," or "Killebrew." Stand back. Watch the fireworks.

30. What does your character most like to do to celebrate her birthday?
* Pick your character's favorite birthday and write it up in narrative form.
* Pick your character's least favorite birthday and write it up in narrative form.

WHEE NARRATIVE! I'll do those in a separate entry later. :3 This is already waaaaay too long.

As for what she's most likely to do, well. Have a nice party at home, with lots of tasty food and movies and friends. And hope Godzilla doesn't show up again.
