He's still out on the sofa. Still looking peaked, but well enough.
One year.
One whole year. (And a little more, considering the 'lost' month in...well. That doesn't count. They weren't together for that whole month. It's been expunged from the official record.)
And today, on their one year anniversary, he's in Spain and she's here. Apart.
Well, that's not the way it's staying. Olé is leashed and ready to go, she's got an overnight bag packed, a battered camelhair trenchcoat is wrapped around her body and she's even got a hat on. A lady's fedora. It's very her. She almost looks like she stepped right out of a particularly beautiful '40s noir movie, only in glorious technicolor, as they say.
Leading Olé out of her bedroom, she closes and locks the door, makes her way out into the living room, and drops a note on TC's lap.
Then, with a gentle smile and a little kiss to his cheek, Hippolyta pulls the dog closer and PINpoints out without another word.
The note reads thusly:
TC,
I'm going to Spain for the next two days. There's plenty of pre-made food in the fridge; help yourself. Make yourself at home. There are certain security measures in the flat, now, as well. Above the door you'll notice a funny shaped wall sconse. It fires sticky fluid that hardens on contact. Perfect for stopping intruders. My guns are in the wall safe in Nadezhda's old office. The combination is 11-11-23-59.
(If you shoot anybody, make sure they're the RIGHT somebody. You shoot any of my tenants, I'll rip your uvula out. If Wade shows up, go ahead and shoot him just on principle.)
If you have an absolute, 'gonna die if I don't get ahold of Hips' emergency, call my PINpoint, serial number 40. If you contact me for anything LESS than a 'gonna die if I don't get ahold of Hips' emergency, I'll rip your uvula out.
See you in two days.
